Job Responsibilities
Project & Design Leadership
- Project management: assign people’s time efficiently across projects to meet budgets, timelines, and deliverables; maintain baseline project management quality control within the department.
- Act as the leader of the design process—from design through documentation—for public works and land development projects.
- Develop and perform QA/QC processes for project risk mitigation.
Technical Experience
- Preliminary engineering design studies (assessment of site constraints and potential regulatory issues).
- Preparation/processing of tentative and final subdivision maps.
- Preparation/processing of public improvement plans for public agencies and/or development plans for commercial and residential projects.
- Preparation and review of hydrologic studies and drainage reports.
Leadership and Communication
- Listen and communicate effectively and professionally in a wide variety of settings inside and outside the firm (sub-consultants, conferences, networking events, governmental agencies).
- Display willingness to make decisions; exercise sound, accurate judgment; explain reasoning with respect to design intent; include appropriate stakeholders in decision-making; make timely decisions.
- A growth-oriented mentality.
Marketing and Business Development
- Procure and manage sales through existing clients and repeat work, new contracts, or new business development activities.
- Decide which private/public projects to pursue and review proposals prepared by the marketing coordinator to ensure adequate budgets, schedules, and scopes while mitigating design risks.
